Now with our own assets, well... Mostly.

So I have been learning blender and substance painter and I decided that I don't want to use others assets if I can. I can't make characters yet, and maybe ever. So I will continue to use the character assets I bought, for now...


You can see from the screen capture, I finally have the first outline of the first Kastle, the Fort. Additionally, you will see the grass I made from scratch and the first tree, also made from scratch, which I made in blender. I will continue to make more trees and foliage (rocks... so much fun), to dress out the scene. Also need to understand the new PCG (procedural content generator) in Unreal to populate trees and foliage. From what I can see it is better than using their foliage tool.


I am pretty proud of both the first draft of the Fort and the first pine tree. These both took quite a bit more understanding of both Blender and Substance Painter. Even have done a little bit of Substance Design for the materials.


I know that having this skill set me back a bit to learn it. Now when I need an asset for the game, I don't have to spend time trying to find something, I will just make it. So, I have a long holiday weekend this week, which means you can expect a video soon. I will make some more updates and maybe another tree and then load up a video of the latest.
